Meet Tom
A message from Tom:
| “I am a Mainer through and through, and I love this great state and its amazing people. I have lived in Maine nearly my entire life. I spent my childhood in Portland and received my Bachelors and Masters degrees at one of our outstanding public colleges, the University of Southern Maine. After graduating, I chose to remain in-state and begin a 25-year career as an educator and administrator. My family and I live in Springvale. Over the years, I have come to know our state through teaching and coaching in eight schools from Millinocket to Elliot. I have traveled across all of Maine’s sixteen counties, first as a young boy then later as an athletics coach and a wilderness guide. I’ve guided students and friends through hundreds of miles of Maine mountains and canoed extensively down state waterways. But my greatest joy comes in sharing Maine’s natural wonders with my wife Claire and our four girls, Natalie, Catherine, Annie, and Rachel. |
| “Partnerships start with relationships; relationships start with dialogue. The people of Maine deserve to really know their candidates—beyond scripted sound bites and staged events. Throughout the campaign, I will make myself available to the public as much as possible. I will talk with you and listen to you on your doorstep, in your homes, at town meetings, at issue forums, and in every venue that lends itself to good dialogue. I will answer your questions honestly. I will be clear about my values and my beliefs—the principles that will guide me while representing our state. Together, you and I can set a new course for Maine and the Nation. We deserve no less. In this Meet Tom section of our website, I hope to start a dialogue with you that will continue throughout the campaign.” |
